Long Hill’s Recreation Department has a full schedule of adult and children’s sports programs and clinics for lacrosse, tennis, volleyball, basketball and soccer. Summer recreation programs take place at local schools for pre-kindergarten to grade eight students. A Little Explorer’s pre-school program is also offered. The town also has very popular Girls’ Softball and Boys’ Little League Programs.
Active Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops hold the interest of scouts through age 18 and often result in recognition of the organizations’ highest honors, Eagle Scout and Gold Awards.
The 24-acre Riverside Park in Gillette was officially dedicated and opened in 2002. Located off Valley Road near the Municipal Building and Library, amenities such as tennis, bocce, horseshoe and basketball courts; a playground; sports fields; walking paths and a canoe launch into the Passaic River are available.
Stirling Lake offers swimming and ice skating to local residents. Located on Chestnut Street, the crystal clear lake is staffed by lifeguards and facilities include a beach, snack bar and picnic area.
Long Hill Community Center in Stirling schedules programs like dog obedience classes, adult aerobics and co-ed volleyball, junior and adult tennis clinics and gymnastics camp.
Sports fields are located north of the Meyersville Circle on New Vernon Road in Meyersville. Amenities include a ball field, tennis courts, basketball courts, and a playground built in 2001.
Open space and walking trails comprise Hicks Tract, which is entered at Knollandale Road in Millington.
